Aspen Dental history
1998: Aspen Dental was founded in Syracuse, New York.
2000–2004: Expanded rapidly from New York into Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, reaching over 60 locations.
2004: Launched the Practice Ownership Program (POP), a structured pathway designed to help dentists transition from associates to practice owners.
2014: Initiated the Healthy Mouth Movement, a community outreach program providing free dental care to U.S. veterans.
2021: Rebranded the parent company, Aspen Dental Management Inc. (ADMI), as TAG – The Aspen Group to reflect its expansion into other healthcare sectors like urgent care (WellNow) and medical aesthetics (Chapter).
2022: Reached a major growth milestone by opening its 1,000th office in Norridge, Illinois.
2023-2026: Transitioned all offices to fully digital operations and continued geographic expansion.

One goal, one network: Independent dentists at The Aspen Group
There is no single provider of dental care called “Aspen Dental.” Each Aspen Dental branded practice is owned and operated by a licensed dentist. The Aspen Group. (“TAG”) provides administrative and business support services to Aspen Dental branded dental practices.
TAG licenses the “Aspen Dental” brand name to the independently owned and operated dental practices that use its business support services. TAG does not own or operate the dental practices, employ or in any way supervise the dentists providing dental care, and control over the care provided is the sole responsibility of the independent practice and the dentists they employ. Services and office practices may vary across dental practices, and patients should contact the dental offices directly for all questions concerning their dental treatment.
The term “Aspen Dental” issued throughout this website and, depending upon the context, may refer to an individual Aspen Dental branded dental practice or multiple Aspen Dental location dental practices.
